  43. in texmf/texmf.cnf and yes it reads texmf.cnf, but it 
  44. doesn't even stat ls-R. Instead, it recursively looks 
  45. for vf directories ...

  47. If possible, I'd like to keep Makefile and sources untouched,
  48. i.e. the binary "configure;make" have created should not
  49. change, only to edit a configuration file ...
